Fender Telecaster Wall Plaque

Fender Telecaster Wall Plaque

The Fender Telecaster, also known as a "Tele" is typically a dual-pickup, solid-body electric guitar made by Fender. Its simple yet effective design and revolutionary sound broke ground and set trends in electric guitar manufacturing and popular music. Introduced for national distribution as the Broadcaster in the autumn of 1950, it was the first guitar of its kind to be produced on a substantial scale. It's commercial production can be traced as far back as the spring of 1950, when the single and dual-pickup Esquire models were first sold.

The popularity of heavy rock in the late 1960's led Fender to re-think its strategy of exclusively using single-coil pickups. They were not perceived as being suitable for the thick sound and extended sustain favoured by heavy rock guitarists using double-coil humbucking pickups. Consequently, Fender hired Seth Lover the originator of the humbucker to design a humbucking pickup for use in a number of Fender guitars. The result was a pickup known as the Wide Range humbucker. From that time to the present the Telecaster has been in continuous production in one form or another, making it the worlds senior solid body electric guitar.

Here are just a few of the well know artists to have played the Telecaster: Keith Richards, Bruce Springsteen, Merle Haggard, James Burton, Syd Barrett, Chrissy Hynde, Rick Parfitt, Francis Rossi, Dave Gilmour and George Harrison.
